Installation of 3 screen burns and a screensaver video. The PC tower cityscape screen burns are hacked up code from a classic Microsoft QBasic game called Gorilla.bas. The projected video was made using custom Flash ActionScript code and it contains obvious elements of 2 Microsoft screen savers "Starfield" and "Mystify Your Mind". All 3 of these "operating system default" cultural gems were found residing on the hard disks of the recycled PC towers and have now been teleported into new dimensions of time and space. Where do screen-beings come from and where do they go? The research has begun! I also find it curious here how functionality can drive visual aesthetic. The purpose of a screen burn is to wear out the phosphors, thus a constant white image works best. Screen savers on the other hand are meant to prevent burn, often resulting in eye candy designs.
