Project»1500 Unadulterated Color Channel Screens

This is a sampling of 1500 generative compositions made in 2005 for my Color Channel art installation at Capsule Gallery in Denver Colorado. At least ten times as many compositions were made and used in the actual exhibition. The gallery had 3 walls and so the TVs and antennae were serialized along them. I transmitted 3 manually animated DVD videos to the hardware on 3 separate UHF wavelengths (one per wall) and labeled them 'X' 'Y' and 'Z'. These are the compositions prior to being animated together and transmitted (i.e. noise injected). The compositions on their own are simple color studies made with a 'pooling' approach that I was using at the time, wherein a small number of images (in this case colored rectangles) were gathered together for my randomized generative software to choose from. The aesthetic objective of this pooling method was to create a large set of compositions having the greatest amount average rhythmic potential. Simply stated: no matter the randomness that occurs, all output must satisfy my tastes.
